
The Alabama Crimson Tide dominated the Kentucky Wildcats 99-70 in the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament quarterfinals. Alabama’s strong second-half performance, featuring a barrage of 3-pointers and dunks, propelled them to a 30-point lead at one point.
The Tide’s balanced attack was led by Labaron Philon’s 23 points, with Jarin Stevenson adding 16 and three players contributing 13 each. Alabama will now face one of the top four seeds – Auburn, Florida, or Tennessee – in the semifinals on Saturday.
The game was tied 14-14 when Alabama went on a 9-0 run, capped by Labaron Philon’s three-point play, to take a 23-14 lead. Kentucky quickly recovered, pulling within 25-21, but Alabama surged ahead again, 31-23, on a Jarin Stevenson 3-pointer. The first half was a high-scoring, frenetic affair, with Alabama leading 45-38 at the break.
The two teams, the highest-scoring in the SEC, continued to trade baskets, but Alabama’s defense eventually broke through in the second half, leading to a dominant 99-70 win. Alabama advances to the semifinals, where they’ll face 2-seed Florida on Saturday.
