BREAKING: Class of 2026 CB Braylen Williams Commits to Ole Miss
In a significant recruiting development, Class of 2026 cornerback Braylen Williams has committed to the University of Mississippi. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back from Nettleton, Mississippi, announced his decision on April 11, 2025, choosing the Rebels over offers from Mississippi State, Auburn, and Arkansas. Williams expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “All glory to God, I’m home.”
High School Career and Athletic Profile
Williams began his high school football journey at Nettleton High School before transferring to Tupelo High School. Due to transfer regulations, he sat out most of his junior season but returned late in the postseason to contribute to Tupelo’s first-ever Class 7A football state championship.
Primarily playing as a cornerback and safety, Williams has also showcased versatility by taking snaps at quarterback. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, his athleticism and adaptability have made him a sought-after prospect.
Recruitment Journey
Williams’ recruitment has been eventful. Initially, he committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks in November 2024 but decommitted in January 2025. Subsequently, he received offers from several programs, including Akron, Southern Miss, Louisville, and Mississippi State.
His decision to commit to Ole Miss marks a significant in-state acquisition for the Rebels.
Impact on Ole Miss Recruiting Class
Williams becomes the first defensive commit and the fourth overall in Ole Miss’s 2026 recruiting class. He joins wide receivers Jameson Powell and Zion Legree, as well as running back Ja’Michael Jones, who committed in March 2025.
His commitment underscores head coach Lane Kiffin’s emphasis on securing top in-state talent and bolstering the team’s defensive depth.
Future Prospects
With his senior season ahead, Williams aims to further develop his skills and contribute significantly to Tupelo High School’s defense. His commitment to Ole Miss not only enhances the Rebels’ future secondary but also highlights the program’s ability to attract premier talent from Mississippi.
Williams’ journey reflects his dedication and resilience, and his future with Ole Miss holds promise for both him and the Rebels’ defense.
