HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have appointed Mike Tomon as the team’s new president, the organization announced on Monday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mike Tomon to the Texans family,” said Chair and CEO Cal McNair. “With over 20 years of experience in sports and entertainment, Mike is a proven leader whose expertise in stadium development and ability to inspire others stood out during our discussions. As we embark on this next chapter as an organization, I’m excited about the future of our business operations under his guidance.”
“I’m thrilled to join the Texans during such an exciting and dynamic time,” said Tomon. “I want to express my gratitude to Janice, Cal, Hannah, and the McNair family for this incredible opportunity to be part of the NFL. I have a deep appreciation for working with people who are passionate about what they do, and it was evident in our conversations that the McNairs have a genuine love for this organization and the city of Houston. Their vision for the team and commitment to achieving excellence immediately resonated with me. I also want to thank my wife, Lauren, and our two children for their support—we’re all excited about the move to Houston. Texans fans are some of the most passionate in the NFL, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Tomon will lead and manage all business operations for the Texans, including marketing, communications, broadcasting, ticket sales and services, event management, corporate sponsorships, community relations, accounting, legal, human resources, and general administration. He will also oversee all facets of Lone Star Sports & Entertainment.
Since 2014, Tomon has been with Legends, most recently serving as Co-President & Chief Operating Officer, where he oversaw global operations, including domestic and international revenue growth through their comprehensive 360-degree service platform. During his tenure, Legends achieved significant growth through strategic acquisitions and forged groundbreaking partnerships with renowned global brands such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, FIFA, and the Rugby World Cup. He also played a key role in the commercial development of NFL venues like SoFi Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Highmark Stadium, and The Star in Frisco, as well as contributing to the preparations for the 2024 Olympics in Paris and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Prior to his time at Legends, Tomon held the position of Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships at AEG, where he led new business development and crafted the global premium sales strategy for AEG’s assets worldwide. He has also held senior leadership roles with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Bobcats, and Phoenix Suns, with a focus on premium ticketing, partnerships, and sales strategies.
Tomon was named a 2015 Sports Business Journal ’40 Under 40′ honoree and has served on the Sports and Entertainment Council for both the United Way and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He was also featured in Dallas Magazine’s Top 500 Business Leaders in 2024. A graduate of Georgetown University, Tomon was a member of the Hoyas football team.
