The Texas Longhorns have a stacked recruiting class. Following a recent rankings update, they now hold the top spot in On3 Sports’ latest recruiting class rankings.
Six Longhorns have earned a five-star rating from at least one of the four major recruiting platforms: ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, and On3 Sports. Additionally, 11 Longhorns rank in the Top 100 of the On3 consensus industry rankings.
With key departures at quarterback, wide receiver, offensive line, defensive line, and defensive back, Texas is set to have a young roster. However, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have a track record of helping highly rated freshmen succeed early.
Notably, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had an impressive freshman season in 2021 at Austin, recording 62 catches for 981 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Anthony Hill Jr. had a strong freshman year in 2023, recording 67 total tackles and 5.5 sacks. Colin Simmons followed up with an impressive 2024 season, finishing with nine sacks.
Although many 2025 signees have the potential to make an immediate impact, here are eight players who are likely to contribute right away.
Wide receiver may be one of the most accessible positions for breakout performances in college football. This is partly because receivers are arriving on campus more prepared than in previous years. In 2024, five-star freshmen wide receivers Ryan Williams (Alabama) and Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State) dominated college football, while Texas’ Ryan Wingo showcased his talent in Austin. Lockett is ranked as a Top 30 prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals.
