For the first time since November 2021, Duke University’s men’s basketball team has ascended to the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Blue Devils (28-3) garnered 52 of the 61 first-place votes, surpassing Houston and Auburn, who are ranked second and third, respectively.
This achievement comes on the heels of a commanding 82-69 victory over archrival North Carolina, marking Duke’s eighth consecutive win. Freshman sensation Cooper Flagg delivered a standout performance in that game, contributing 15 points and making significant defensive plays.
Flagg’s impact extends beyond individual games; he has been instrumental throughout the season, earning him the ACC Player of the Year award. Under the leadership of head coach Jon Scheyer, the Blue Devils have demonstrated consistent excellence, positioning themselves as strong contenders in the upcoming ACC and NCAA tournaments.
As the postseason approaches, Duke aims to maintain its momentum and capitalize on its top-ranking status, striving for continued success in the highly competitive landscape of college basketball.
