
The Florida Gators men’s basketball team clinched their fifth Southeastern Conference (SEC) Tournament championship on March 16, 2025, by defeating the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers 86-77. This victory marked their first SEC Tournament title since 2014.
Guard Walter Clayton Jr. led the Gators with 22 points, earning the tournament’s Most Valuable Player honors. Other notable contributions came from Will Richard, who added 17 points, and Alex Condon, who scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds. The Gators dominated the boards with a 39-25 rebounding advantage and shot 42.6% from the field.
This triumph is expected to secure Florida a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Head coach Todd Golden praised his team’s defensive effort and rebounding prowess, highlighting these aspects as crucial to their success.

This championship adds to Florida’s previous SEC Tournament titles won in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2014, underscoring the program’s sustained excellence in the conference.
