It traces his journey from a young musician growing up in Minnesota to his earliest experiences performing in New York’s Greenwich Village. This period captures the foundation of his artistry and the beginnings of his rise to prominence.
Fans will be able to enjoy the collection in multiple formats, including digital, 8xCD, 2xCD, and 4xLP editions. For those who choose the physical versions, the release is accompanied by a 125-page essay written by historian Sean Wilentz, offering deep insight and context into Dylan’s early work.
The closing two discs of Through The Open Window feature recordings from Bob Dylan’s legendary concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall on October 26, 1963. These performances are being made available for the first time, offering listeners a rare glimpse into a pivotal moment in his early career.
This release also marks Dylan’s return to the acclaimed Bootleg Series after a break of more than two years. It follows Fragments – Time Out Of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series, Vol. 17, continuing the tradition of unearthing important and previously unheard chapters of his musical journey.
Featured below is “Rocks And Gravel (Solid Road),” a track first recorded in April 1962 during the sessions for The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. Though previously released, it offers a glimpse into Dylan’s creative process during one of his most defining eras.
Legacy has announced that Through The Open Window: The Bootleg Series Vol. 18 will officially be released on October 31, 2025. The collection promises to further expand on Dylan’s archival treasures, giving fans new material to explore.
