South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has parted ways with offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley, sources confirmed to GamecockCentral. The decision comes as the Gamecocks look to regroup offensively following a string of inconsistent performances in the trenches this season.
In Teasley’s absence, running game coordinator and tight ends coach Shawn Elliott will step in as the interim offensive line coach, according to sources close to the program. Elliott, who previously coached offensive lines earlier in his career, brings experience and familiarity with South Carolina’s offensive system to the new role.
The move signals Beamer’s intent to stabilize the unit and generate immediate improvement heading into the latter half of the season. With Elliott’s leadership and Beamer’s oversight, the Gamecocks hope to restore consistency up front and reinvigorate a running game that has struggled to find traction in recent weeks.
An official announcement regarding Lonnie Teasley’s dismissal is expected later today. Teasley was in his third season with South Carolina’s program and his second year serving as the full-time offensive line coach. He took over the position in January 2023 after replacing Greg Adkins, who previously held the role.
Teasley first assumed on-field coaching responsibilities for South Carolina’s offensive line early in the 2022 season when then–offensive line coach Greg Adkins was sidelined by a minor health issue. His performance in that interim capacity helped pave the way for his eventual promotion.
He originally joined the Gamecocks’ staff in 2021 as an offensive analyst, bringing valuable experience from his time as the offensive line coach at North Carolina Central University, where he spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons. His early contributions and familiarity with the program led to an expanded role within Shane Beamer’s coaching staff.
