A Texas A&M student was found dead after the football game, and the student’s mother is now challenging the police’s account of what happened. She believes key details may be missing and is pushing for clearer answers about the circumstances surrounding her child’s death.

Nineteen-year-old Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera was discovered dead near campus just hours after attending a college football game, leaving her mother desperate for answers about what happened. The circumstances surrounding her death have raised painful questions for the family.

Local outlet KSAT-TV reports that Brianna had traveled to Austin on Friday night to watch Texas A&M face the University of Texas. Sometime after returning to the College Station area, tragedy struck.

Her body was later found by a bystander outside an apartment complex near campus. The suddenness of the discovery and the lack of clear details have intensified her mother’s push for information as she seeks to understand how her daughter’s night ended so tragically.

Brianna’s mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, told KSAT she’s unhappy with the explanations she’s received from Austin police. She said Brianna stopped responding to calls and texts after the game, even though her phone still showed activity in Austin. Brianna’s body was discovered around 1 a.m. Saturday, but Rodriguez didn’t learn from police that her daughter was in the morgue until 4 p.m.

Authorities believe Brianna died by suicide after falling from the 17th floor of an apartment building. Her mother strongly disputes that conclusion, saying Brianna had no history of suicidal thoughts and was excited about her future, including plans to attend law school.

Rodriguez also believes someone knows more than they are saying. With about 15 people reportedly inside the apartment when the incident occurred, she feels at least one person must have information that could help explain what happened to her daughter.

Rodriguez told KSAT that a fight occurred between Brianna and another girl, and that several people involved were staying in the same apartment something she says is supported by text messages the detective chose to ignore.

A university spokesperson told KSAT that Texas A&M has “no statement to share at this time.” The Travis County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death, and for now, authorities are not treating the case as a homicide.
