A top-rated Texas football commit is reportedly on “flip watch” as he heads to Auburn for a weekend visit, sparking speculation that the Tigers could sway the elite prospect away from his Longhorn pledge amid growing recruiting drama.

Four-star defensive tackle Corey Wells of Petal High School (Petal, MS) committed to Texas back in June, but his recruitment hasn’t completely shut down. The 6’5”, 300-pound blue-chip lineman has continued exploring his options, with his latest stop being Auburn this weekend for the Tigers’ matchup against Ball State.

Wells remains a coveted target thanks to his rare combination of length and power, making him a disruptive presence on the interior defensive line. Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams values that exact skill set, which is why the Tigers are pushing hard. If Wells holds firm with Texas following the visit, it could solidify his Longhorn pledge once and for all.

Auburn will put on the full-court press during Wells’ visit, doing everything possible to sway the four-star defensive tackle while he’s in town. The Tigers see his size and skillset as a perfect fit for their defensive front.

Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker has served as Wells’ primary recruiter, and he remains extremely high on the Mississippi standout’s potential.
