Former Texas wide receiver Johntay Cook II was arrested Tuesday morning on misdemeanor charges of property theft and obstructing public duties.
Ex-Texas wide receiver Johntay Cook II was taken into custody Tuesday morning on misdemeanor charges of property theft and obstructing public duties.
Cook, a highly rated five-star recruit from the Class of 2023 out of DeSoto, Texas, was being held at a correctional facility in Fort Worth, Texas, according to inmate intake records.
Cook departed from the Longhorns midway through the 2024 season and entered the transfer portal. He initially committed to Washington on Dec. 28 but re-entered the portal on Jan. 14.
From 2023 to 2024, he played in 20 games for Texas, recording 16 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns came during a 56-7 victory over UTSA on Sept. 14, 2024.
