Quinn Ewers’ tenure with the Texas Longhorns ended following a 28-14 defeat to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Cotton Bowl.Soon after the season concluded, Ewers announced his decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, paving the way for backup Arch Manning to step into the starting quarterback role next season.
Manning was the highest-rated recruit in the 2023 class, earning a perfect 100 grade from 247Sports. During his time at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, he excelled at quarterback, amassing 8,539 passing yards, 115 touchdowns, and only 19 interceptions.
Arch Manning followed in the footsteps of his uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, who also starred at the same high school. During his senior year, he surpassed Eli’s school record for career passing yards, which previously stood at 7,268.
This week, Eli Manning still seemed slightly unsettled about his nephew breaking his record. In an interview with Broadcast Boys, the hosts compared Eli and Peyton’s football careers. When the topic of Eli’s former high school record came up, he downplayed Arch surpassing it. “The game has changed,” Eli remarked. “He’s always in shotgun. Much easier. But he earned it.”
Eli Manning has a history of playfully teasing his family about football. After Arch made his first start for the Longhorns on September 21 against UL Monroe, a graphic comparing the college debut stats of all four Mannings—Arch, Eli, Peyton, and Archie—was shared. The former New York Giants star stood out with the most impressive performance.
“I win!” Eli posted on X in September. While Arch surpassed Eli’s passing yards record at Isidore Newman, he also broke Peyton’s school record of 93 career passing touchdowns.
Arch played in 10 games for the Longhorns during the 2024 season, including two starts when Ewers was injured. In those games, he completed 61 of 90 passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also rushing for four additional touchdowns.
