No. 9 Texas A\&M welcomes Auburn to Kyle Field this Saturday afternoon, marking the Aggies’ return home after a thrilling 41-40 win at Notre Dame. That victory will either be remembered as a lucky break or the spark that fuels an SEC title push.
In a small but telling sample, Texas A\&M’s passing game showed major improvement under starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who delivered 360 yards and two touchdowns. Transfer receiver Mario Craver was the star, piling up 207 yards the most by an Aggie since Mike Evans topped 200 in his final season.
While Reed and Craver highlighted the offense’s growth, the Aggie defense revealed plenty of concerns. Against Notre Dame, A\&M gave up big plays both through the air and on the ground, raising questions about its ability to handle explosive opponents in SEC play.
That challenge only gets tougher this week, as Auburn brings dynamic receivers Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr. to Kyle Field. With defensive lapses already exposed, head coach Mike Elko now handling play-calling duties himself faces a critical test in keeping the Tigers’ offense under control.
