Azzi Fudd, a senior guard for the UConn Huskies, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. In the national championship game on April 6, 2025, Fudd led UConn to a decisive 82-59 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks, contributing 24 points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Throughout the tournament, Fudd’s performance was exceptional. In the Final Four, she scored 19 points in UConn’s win over UCLA, and her consistent play was instrumental in the Huskies’ championship run.

Her efforts, alongside those of teammates Sarah Strong and Paige Bueckers, marked a historic achievement, with all three surpassing 100 points in the tournament—a first since 2009.

Fudd’s recognition as the Most Outstanding Player adds her name to a distinguished list of UConn alumni who have received this honor, including Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart.

Her leadership and resilience, especially after returning from injury setbacks, were pivotal in restoring UConn to its former prominence in women’s basketball.
