Georgia announced Thursday that sophomore wide receiver Nitro Tuggle and redshirt freshman offensive lineman Marques Easley have been suspended indefinitely. Tuggle was arrested earlier that morning on charges of speeding and reckless driving before being released on a $26 bond.
The Indiana native played in eight games last season, recording three catches for 34 yards, and was expected to have a larger role in Georgia’s receiving corps. Easley, a redshirt freshman from Peoria, Illinois, has yet to see significant playing time for the Bulldogs.
Nitro Tuggle’s arrest marks Georgia’s first of the offseason, but the program has dealt with multiple driving-related incidents in recent years. Last July, the Bulldogs dismissed safety David Daniel-Sisavanh, while running back Trevor Etienne and cornerback Daniel Harris each missed games last season following similar arrests.
Head coach Kirby Smart has previously addressed the issue, emphasizing that discipline extends beyond game suspensions and that repeated offenses lead to dismissals. He pointed out at last year’s SEC Media Days that Georgia has been proactive in handling such cases, even if they do not always result in immediate public suspensions.
Historically, Georgia has kept internal disciplinary actions private, as seen with Etienne and Harris last season. The team has not specified the terms of Tuggle’s suspension, in keeping with that approach.
The Bulldogs are currently in their fifth spring practice and continue preparations for the 2025 season, which begins on August 30 against Marshall.
