The Dallas Mavericks are indeed facing another setback after losing Kyrie Irving, as Anthony Davis is recovering from a left adductor strain injury he sustained during his Mavericks debut. Davis has been making “good progress” and is expected to be re-evaluated.
Although Davis described the injury as “nothing serious” and just “a little spasm” in his abdomen stemming from his previous injury, his absence has intensified criticism of the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Mavericks are currently eighth in the Western Conference standings, and coach Jason Kidd acknowledges that getting healthy is crucial to achieving their goals. With several other players, including Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford, and Dwight Powell, also dealing with injuries, the Mavericks’ frontcourt is severely depleted.
