Alabama has secured a commitment from four-star edge rusher Jamarion Matthews for its 2026 recruiting class. Matthews, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound standout from Gainesville, Georgia, chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Florida State, LSU, and Clemson. He is ranked as the No. 199 overall prospect and the No. 17 edge defender in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
During his junior season at Sparkman High School in Harvest, Alabama, Matthews recorded 57 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 17 sacks. He has since transferred to Gainesville High School for his senior year.
Matthews’ commitment marks the third for Alabama’s 2026 class, joining offensive lineman Chris Booker and cornerback Zyan Gibson. This addition bolsters the Crimson Tide’s defensive lineup and reflects head coach Kalen DeBoer’s focus on strengthening in-state recruiting efforts.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Matthews stated, “I don’t give a p*** about nothing but the TIDE.
His decision underscores Alabama’s continued appeal to top defensive talent and sets a positive tone for the program’s future.
