BREAKING: Four-Star LB Taven Epps (2027) has committed to Texas.
The 6’4”, 230-pound linebacker out of Tustin, CA chose the Longhorns over heavy in-state contenders USC and UCLA.
“I’m coming home,” Epps said, signaling a deep personal connection to the Texas program despite being a California native.
What makes this decision even more notable is that Epps reportedly turned down jaw-dropping NIL offers from several top programs. According to sources close to his recruitment, multiple schools presented seven-figure deals in an effort to sway the elite linebacker, but Epps remained focused on fit, development, and long-term goals.
“He’s not chasing quick money,” one source said. “He’s chasing greatness.”
Epps is considered one of the most physically gifted defenders in the 2027 class and is expected to be a foundational piece in Texas’ future defensive plans. His commitment is a massive win for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, not just on the field—but in the increasingly competitive NIL era of recruiting.
