BREAKING: Michigan WR/CB Amorion Walker Plans to Enter the Transfer Portal
In a surprising development, Michigan’s two-way athlete Amorion Walker has announced his intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal once again. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior, who has experience playing both wide receiver and cornerback, has had a unique and winding college career that now takes yet another turn.
Walker originally signed with Michigan in the 2022 recruiting class, coming out of Ponchatoula High School (LA) as a 3-star prospect with elite speed and versatility. He began his college career in Ann Arbor playing wide receiver, but his length and athleticism prompted Michigan’s coaching staff to also experiment with him on the defensive side of the ball, eventually transitioning him to cornerback.
After spending his freshman season at Michigan, Walker transferred to Ole Miss following the 2022 season, returning to his home state of Louisiana and closer proximity to family. However, that stay in Oxford was short-lived. After just one semester, he returned to Michigan in the spring of 2024, hoping to make an impact in a new-look Wolverines secondary or potentially as a vertical threat on offense.
Now, less than a year after his return to Ann Arbor, Walker is back in the portal, seeking a fresh opportunity elsewhere. He has two years of eligibility remaining, and given his combination of size, speed, and positional flexibility, he is expected to draw interest from several Power Five programs.
While Walker never fully carved out a consistent role at Michigan—largely due to position switches, injuries, and competition—his raw athletic traits and potential remain highly intriguing. Programs looking for a developmental corner or wideout with elite physical tools will likely line up to make a pitch.
Walker’s decision to transfer comes at a time when the Wolverines are undergoing significant roster changes following Jim Harbaugh’s departure to the NFL and the arrival of new head coach Sherrone Moore.
Expect Walker to take his time evaluating his next move, as this could be his final stop in college football.
