In a stunning move, the Indianapolis Colts have acquired star wide receiver Garrett Wilson from the New York Jets in a blockbuster trade. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the trade was finalized after Wilson rejected a four-year, $120 million contract extension offer from the Jets just 18 hours prior.
The terms of the trade have Wilson joining the Colts on a three-year, $109.6 million contract. In return, the Jets will receive unprotected fifth-round picks in 2025, with potentially more draft compensation to come.
This trade marks a significant shift in the NFL landscape, as Wilson is considered one of the league’s top wide receivers. His addition to the Colts is expected to provide a major boost to their offense, particularly with the emergence of star quarterback Anthony Richardson.
The trade also raises questions about the Jets’ future plans, as they part ways with one of their most talented players. The additional draft capital acquired in the trade may help the Jets rebuild and retool their roster in the coming years.
