Bruins Beat Canucks in OT Thriller, Extend Win Streak to Two…Read More….
Vancouver, BC – January 4, 2026
Bruins Nation, your Boston Bruins are showing signs of life! In a dramatic overtime victory on Saturday night, the Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 at Rogers Arena, securing their second straight win after snapping a six-game skid.
The hero of the night was Fraser Minten, the 21-year-old Vancouver native making his first NHL appearance in his hometown arena. Minten scored twice, including the game-winner with just 19 seconds left in overtime. His first goal opened the scoring in the first period, and the overtime tally – assisted by David Pastrnak and Mason Lohrei – sent over 60 of his friends and family into ecstasy. “You can’t describe a better script,” said head coach Marco Sturm. Minten, acquired last season from Toronto, has emerged as a key third-line contributor.
Elias Lindholm added a power-play goal in the second period, with Pastrnak picking up assists on both regulation tallies. Pastrnak, fresh off a two-goal performance, continues to lead the offense. Jeremy Swayman was outstanding in net, turning aside 31 of 33 shots to earn the win.
This victory capped a successful start to 2026 for the Bruins (22-18-2, 46 points), who dominated the Edmonton Oilers 6-2 on New Year’s Eve. Pastrnak (2G, 1A), Hampus Lindholm, Elias Lindholm, Casey Mittelstadt, and others powered that rout, ending a frustrating 0-4-2 slide that had dropped Boston in the standings.
The Bruins sit fifth in the tight Atlantic Division, fighting in a logjam for playoff spots. With injuries to players like Tanner Jeannot and Henri Jokiharju lingering, depth has been tested, but young players like Minten are stepping up.
Next up: The Bruins wrap their five-game road trip Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken before a crucial homestand. Trade rumors swirl around GM Don Sweeney seeking offensive help, but for now, this team is building momentum.
Keep the faith, Bruins Nation – the Black and Gold are trending up!
