Carson Beck, the new starting quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes, reaffirmed his commitment to the program after reportedly turning down a massive $5.5 million NIL offer from the Oregon Ducks. Beck, who transferred from the University of Georgia in January 2025, made it clear that he’s fully bought in on helping Miami return to national prominence.
Beck brings an impressive résumé to Coral Gables. During his two seasons as Georgia’s starter, he posted a 24-3 record while throwing for 7,426 yards and 52 touchdowns. Despite suffering a UCL injury in his throwing arm during the SEC Championship Game against Texas—an injury that sidelined him for the College Football Playoff—Beck remains one of college football’s top signal-callers.
His commitment to Miami came with a lucrative $4 million NIL deal, placing him among the highest-paid players in the sport. Though he faced inconsistency at times in 2024, including 12 interceptions, Beck earned praise for his football IQ and composure, traits that analysts believe could lead Miami back to the College Football Playoff with the right support around him.
Beck will face several challenges in 2025, including building chemistry with a completely new receiving corps after the Hurricanes lost their top six pass-catchers from the previous season. Miami is expected to lean heavily on its ground game, powered by Mark Fletcher Jr. and Jordan Lyle, while Beck adjusts. Still, with Pro Football Focus ranking him No. 3 among returning quarterbacks, the pressure is on—but so is the potential for something special in South Florida.
