The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has secured their fifth consecutive Final Four appearance by defeating the Duke Blue Devils 54-50 in the Elite Eight. Chloe Kitts led the team with 14 points, contributing significantly to the hard-fought victory.
This achievement not only brings the Gamecocks closer to defending their national title but also triggers substantial bonuses for the coaching staff. Head coach Dawn Staley’s contract includes performance incentives, awarding her $250,000 for reaching the Final Four.
Assistant coaches receive bonuses equivalent to one month’s salary for both making the tournament and advancing to the Final Four.
As the Gamecocks prepare for their semifinal matchup against the winner of the Texas vs. TCU game, they remain focused on their goal of securing back-to-back national championships, a feat last accomplished by UConn between 2013 and 2016.
Congratulations to the Gamecocks on their continued success and best wishes for the challenges ahead!
