Former Duke basketball player Henry Coleman is proving to be a dependable asset for No. 10 Texas A&M.
Signs suggested that Henry Coleman had the potential to be a dominant force in Duke’s frontcourt in recent years.
After his freshman season in 2020-21, during which he never had the chance to play in front of fans at Cameron Indoor Stadium due to restrictions, the former high-level four-star recruit from Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Va., transferred to Texas A&M.
Four years later, the 22-year-old Coleman has etched his name in Aggies history. Following Saturday night’s 76-72 road win over South Carolina, he now ranks third all-time in offensive rebounds for Texas A&M. His three boards in the game brought his total to 312 with the Aggies, after previously collecting 13 offensive rebounds as a reserve for Duke’s 2020-21 team, which finished 13-11 and missed the NCAA Tournament.
According to Luke Evangelist of TexAgs, Coleman is just 13 rebounds away from setting the program’s all-time record.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Coleman, now in his fourth season as a starter for at least half of Texas A&M’s games, is averaging 8.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game. In 30 minutes against South Carolina, he contributed 12 points, five defensive rebounds, one assist, and two steals.
Notably, Henry Coleman continues to provide his steady, veteran presence for a Texas A&M team (17-5, 6-3 SEC) that climbed three spots to No. 10 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, released Monday afternoon.
Given that, it wouldn’t be shocking if the No. 2-ranked Blue Devils face off against Coleman and the Aggies during the second or third week of March Madness.
