
Five players from Alabama high schools and colleges lost their spots in the United Football League on Thursday, when the eight teams reduced their training-camp rosters to the regular-season limit of 50.
The players with Alabama football roots waived on Thursday included:
– Ben Davis (Gordo High School, Alabama), linebacker, waived by the Houston Roughnecks
– D.J. Fluker (Foley High School, Alabama), guard, waived by the DC Defenders
– DeWayne McBride (UAB), running back, waived by the Memphis Showboats
– Rory Starkey (Samford), wide receiver, waived by the Houston Roughnecks
– John Yarbrough (Homewood High School), offensive tackle, waived by the DC Defenders
Additionally, De’Gabriel Floyd (Alabama A&M), outside linebacker, will begin the season on injured reserve with the Michigan Panthers.
Despite these roster changes, several players from Alabama high schools and colleges remain on UFL rosters as the league prepares for its second season. Here are the players:

Houston Roughnecks: Christopher Allen (Alabama), middle linebacker; Shakel Brown (Troy), defensive tackle; Cam Carter (Minor High School), offensive tackle; Keenan Isaac (Midfield High School, Alabama State), cornerback
Memphis Showboats: Dee Anderson (Alabama A&M), wide receiver; Eric Garror (McGill-Toolen Catholic High School), cornerback; Eli Stove (Auburn), wide receiver; Jay Jay Wilson (Auburn), tight end
