Former Texas quarterback Hudson Card leaves Purdue to focus on preparing for this year’s NFL Draft.

Purdue’s starting quarterback, Hudson Card, has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Redshirt senior f started his collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns under former head coach Tom Herman. A four-star recruit in Texas football’s 2020 class, Card was ranked among the nation’s top four dual-threat quarterbacks and a top 10 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports’ 2020 recruiting rankings.

During his time at Texas, Card had limited playing opportunities and chose to redshirt as a true freshman in 2020. As a redshirt freshman in 2021, he was named the starting quarterback under new head coach Steve Sarkisian, who replaced Tom Herman. However, after a rough performance against Arkansas, he lost the starting role to redshirt sophomore Casey Thompson. Card went on to appear in eight games that season.

The following offseason, Ohio State transfer and redshirt freshman Quinn Ewers arrived, resulting in Card being benched for the rest of his tenure with the Longhorns.

In November 2022, Card declared his intent to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He soon committed to Purdue, where he started 21 games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
