Florida State freshman forward Christian Nitu has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, as reported by On3’s Pete Nakos.
Standing 6-foot-11 and weighing 220 pounds, Nitu played in 22 games during his first season with the Seminoles. He averaged 1.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 6.9 minutes per game in his limited role as a true freshman.
Nitu was a three-star prospect from Fort Erie International Academy in Toronto, Canada. According to On3’s Industry Rankings, which compiles data from all four major recruiting services, he was rated as the No. 39 power forward in the 2024 class and the No. 25 overall prospect from Canada.
In addition to his high school career, Nitu gained international experience as a member of Team Canada’s under-17 national team. He competed in the 2023 World Cup, showcasing his skills on a global stage.
Nitu is the latest Florida State player to enter the transfer portal, joining fellow freshman forwards Waka Mbatch and Anastasios Rozakeas, as well as sophomore forward Taylor Bol Bowen and junior guard Chandler Jackson. Their departures come shortly after the portal officially opened on Monday.
