One of the greatest players in college football history is returning to where it all began. Herschel Walker, the legendary former Georgia Bulldogs running back, is coming back to Athens to serve as a bench coach for the program.

Walker, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1982 and led Georgia to a national championship in 1980, remains one of the most iconic figures in Bulldogs history. His dominance on the field, where he rushed for over 5,000 yards in just three seasons, set the standard for excellence at the position. Now, he’s bringing his wealth of experience and leadership back to the program in a mentoring role.

While not an official on-field assistant, Walker will serve as a mentor to players, offering guidance on mental and physical preparation, leadership, and the demands of playing at an elite level. His presence is expected to be especially valuable in working with Georgia’s running backs, helping develop the next generation of Bulldog greats.
