South Carolina has landed a significant addition to its offensive line through the transfer portal, as Incarnate Word offensive lineman Nolan Hay has officially committed to the Gamecocks. His decision follows a recent campus visit that appears to have sealed the deal.
Hay, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 310 pounds, selected South Carolina over other strong contenders, including Oklahoma State, Washington State, and Colorado. His commitment adds valuable depth to the Gamecocks’ offensive front.
In an interview with SportsTalkSC, Hay emphasized that the Gamecocks’ coaching staff made a strong impression on him, particularly strength coach Luke Day and offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley. Their deep understanding of his game and how to improve it helped influence his choice.
Hay appreciated how Coach Teasley pinpointed both his strengths and areas for development during his visit. This level of detailed analysis and personalized feedback made him confident in the coaching staff’s ability to elevate his performance.
With just one year of eligibility remaining, Hay is expected to compete right away for a role on the interior offensive line. South Carolina views him as a potential immediate contributor given recent roster changes.
His addition helps fill a gap left by offensive linemen Jakai Moore and Kam Pringle, who both entered the transfer portal during this spring window. The staff prioritized bringing in experienced help, and Hay fit the need perfectly.
Before transferring to Incarnate Word, Hay spent two seasons with Houston Christian University. Over his college career, he has gained substantial experience and recognition for his performance on the field.
In the 2024 season, Hay played right tackle and earned an impressive 80.6 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus. Over the course of his college career, he has logged more than 2,000 snaps and appeared in 31 games.
With Hay on board, South Carolina has now brought in four new players through the spring transfer window. His commitment follows a series of moves aimed at strengthening the team’s depth and talent across both lines.
Earlier this week, defensive lineman Troy Pikes joined the Gamecocks after choosing them over several power programs, including Georgia and Ohio State. The spring additions also include edge rushers George Wilson and Demon Clowney, further bolstering South Carolina’s roster heading into the 2025 season.
