For the most part, officiating in the NCAA Tournament has been solid, including much of Arkansas’ game against St. John’s. However, a highly controversial call in the first half left fans frustrated.
With six minutes remaining, Brazile boxed out Zuby Ejiofor on a missed three-pointer. As Brazile focused on the play, Ejiofor initiated contact, and when Brazile pushed back, Ejiofor exaggerated the contact, throwing his head back and falling to the floor.
The game had been physical, with Ejiofor playing aggressively in the paint, particularly against Brazile. While Brazile may have been reacting out of frustration, Ejiofor’s dramatic fall made it hard to ignore his attempt to sell the call.
The foul was Brazile’s second, forcing him to the bench for the remainder of the half. With Arkansas’ other big man, Jonas Aidoo, also sidelined with two fouls, the Razorbacks found themselves in a difficult spot.
