Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Turner has stepped away from the Senior Bowl.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, it was found that the stress fracture Turner had surgery on before the season didn’t completely heal. He had a rod placed in his leg during the procedure, but unknowingly played through the season with the injury after the bone failed to fully recover.
Rapoport reports that he has been advised to refrain from putting any strain on his leg for 3-4 weeks to allow the bone to heal.
Turner will take part in Scouting Combine interviews in Indianapolis next month and intends to participate in his Pro Day in March.
He is projected to be a top-50 pick.
Turner concluded his career at Texas A&M with 115 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, one pass deflection, and three forced fumbles.
