Kentucky Wildcats’ sophomore center, Clara Strack, has been honored as the Southeaster Conference (SEC) Defensive Player of the Year. This recognition makes her only the second player in Kentucky’s program history to receive this award, following Victoria Dunlap’s achievement in 2011.
Standing at 6-foot-5, Strack has been a formidable presence on the court this season. She leads the SEC in blocks per game with an average of 2.4, placing her 12th nationally. Additionally, she ranks third in the conference for rebounds, averaging 9.6 per game. Her overall statistics include 15.5 points, 2.9 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.
These impressive numbers have also earned her a spot as a finalist for the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award, which recognizes the nation’s top center.
Strack’s defensive prowess has been instrumental in Kentucky’s performance this season. Her ability to protect the rim and dominate the paint has significantly contributed to the Wildcats’ success, making them a formidable opponent in the SEC.
In addition to Strack’s accolade, her teammate Georgia Amoore was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and selected for the All-SEC First Team, highlighting the depth of talent on the Kentucky roster.
As the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, Strack’s defensive skills will be crucial in their pursuit of the championship.Sophomores Poised to Impact SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament.
