The No. 13 seed Texas Longhorns put up a good fight but ultimately ran out of steam against the No. 4 seed Tennessee Volunteers, losing 83-72. This loss came after Texas won two games in the SEC Tournament, leaving their NCAA Tournament hopes uncertain.
Chaz Lanier from Tennessee had a phenomenal first half, scoring 13 of the team’s first 17 points and finishing with 19 points before halftime. Zakai Zeigler took over in the second half, scoring 17 points to seal the deal for the Volunteers.
Texas’ Jordan Pope and Kadin Shedrick both put up 14 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Tennessee’s strong offense. The Longhorns’ loss leaves them with a 19-15 record, and they’ll have to wait and see if they’ve done enough to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
