Ohio State Reportedly Adds Three to Coaching Staff on Wednesday.

Ohio State is reportedly set to add three new analysts to its coaching staff. Former Purdue offensive line coach Marcus Johnson, ex-Oklahoma State coach Charlie Dickey, and former Dartmouth associate head coach Wendy Laurent will join Ryan Day’s program. Johnson has also coached at Missouri, Mississippi State, and Duke, while Dickey, a veteran coach since 1988, had been with Oklahoma State since 2019.

Laurent, who played as an offensive lineman at Penn State, joined Dartmouth’s coaching staff in 2022.

The trio will collaborate with newly promoted offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, who last season served as both the Buckeyes’ wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator.

Last season’s offensive line coach, Justin Frye, left Ohio State to join the Arizona Cardinals’ coaching staff. Earlier this month, he was succeeded by Tyler Bowen, who spent the previous three seasons at Virginia Tech.

Last season, Ohio State’s defense allowed only 16 sacks—averaging one per game—which ranked them tied for 10th in the nation for fewest sacks allowed. Additionally, the Buckeyes featured two running backs who each exceeded 1,000 rushing yards, with Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson combining for 2,076 yards and 24 touchdowns. Both Judkins and Henderson are expected to be among the top NFL draft picks this year, while James Peoples and C.J. Donaldson are projected to be the leading running backs for Ohio State next season.

The reigning College Football Playoff national champions are poised for change, as the Buckeyes are introducing a new starting quarterback. Julian Sayin, a former five-star recruit who transferred from Alabama to Columbus, is expected to take charge under center.
