Revealed: Ohio State’s Newest Commit, Simeon Caldwell, Shuts Down His Recruitment
The Ohio State Buckeyes have officially secured one of their top targets in the 2026 recruiting class, as elite cornerback Simeon Caldwell has committed to the program and is shutting down his recruitment. The four-star defensive back, who had been heavily pursued by multiple powerhouse programs, has now canceled all his remaining official visits to Miami, USC, and Notre Dame, signaling that his decision is final.
Caldwell, who took a patient and methodical approach to the recruiting process, emphasized that Ohio State simply felt like home.
“I know that this is home! I took the recruiting process slow for a reason & said I was going to commit when I found my home & I have found that in Ohio State!”
His commitment gives the Buckeyes a major boost in their secondary for the 2026 cycle. Standing at 6’1” and 180 pounds, Caldwell possesses elite speed, physicality, and ball-hawking ability—traits that fit perfectly in Ohio State’s defensive scheme. The Buckeyes’ coaching staff, led by head coach Ryan Day and defensive backs coach Tim Walton, played a significant role in securing his pledge, building a strong relationship with the talented corner throughout the process.
Caldwell’s recruitment had been one of the most competitive battles in the 2026 class, with Miami, USC, and Notre Dame all making serious pushes to land him. However, after taking multiple visits and evaluating his options, he ultimately felt that Ohio State provided the best combination of player development, culture, and a pathway to the NFL.
With Caldwell now locked in, the Buckeyes continue to build one of the strongest defensive recruiting classes in the country. His decision to shut things down early will allow him to fully focus on his senior season, as well as start recruiting other top prospects to join him in Columbus.
Ohio State fans can officially celebrate another major win on the recruiting trail—Caldwell is a Buckeye.
