To the Big Blue Nation
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our brother, teammate, and dear friend—Richie. This week, we lost not just an incredible athlete, but a truly special human being whose presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Richie was more than a player; he was the heart and soul of our program. From the moment he joined us in 2019 through the unforgettable journey to the College World Series, Richie embodied everything it meant to wear Kentucky across his chest. His commitment, energy, and passion for the game were unmatched, and his loyalty to his teammates was unwavering.
But what made Richie truly unforgettable was who he was off the field. He was kind, humble, fiercely loyal, and always ready with a smile or a joke to lift someone’s spirits. Whether it was in the dugout, the locker room, or out in the community, Richie carried himself with a quiet strength and an unmistakable light. He made everyone around him better—on and off the diamond.
His loss is deeply felt by our entire Kentucky Baseball family and by so many others whose lives he touched. Richie’s memory will forever be a part of our program, our story, and our hearts. Though he may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us in everything we do.
Please join us in keeping Richie’s family, friends, and teammates in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We already miss him more than words can express.
Rest easy, brother. You’ll always be one of us.
Forever a Wildcat.
