South Carolina defensive line coach Travian Robertson has been absent from the program for nearly a month following a severe car accident. On Wednesday, he shared a health update through his attorneys at Cavanaugh and Thickens, LLC.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina defensive line coach Travian Robertson has issued a statement regarding his health and recovery after being involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on August 22, 2025.
Robertson suffered significant, life-altering injuries in the crash, which has already required five surgeries to address both internal and external damage. The accident occurred when an allegedly impaired driver crossed the center line and struck him head-on.
Robertson expressed gratitude on behalf of his wife, Kettiany, and their three sons, thanking the community for its overwhelming prayers and support since the accident. He said he is thankful to God for sparing his life and is focused on recovery and rehabilitation so he can return to his roles as husband, father, and coach. The Robertson family also extended heartfelt appreciation to the firefighters, medical personnel, and bystanders who assisted at the scene, as well as the staff at Prisma Health Richland Hospital for their care.
Robertson was discharged from the hospital on September 5, 2025, following a 14-day stay that included 10 difficult days in the Intensive Care Unit. His family has requested privacy as he continues focusing on recovery.
The Robertson family is being represented by attorney Shea Brighthop of Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC in Columbia. Brighthop noted that the family faces a long road of medical care, rehabilitation, and life adjustments, adding that it is the firm’s honor to advocate vigorously on their behalf.
