South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer provided an injury update following the Gamecocks’ victory over Kentucky. Beamer discussed the status of several players who left the game or were dealing with lingering issues, offering insight into their recoveries and potential availability for upcoming matchups.

Shane Beamer’s opening statement during Saturday’s postgame press conference lasted nearly six minutes, but he didn’t address injuries at all during that time. His focus remained on the game itself and the team’s overall performance.

It wasn’t until the closing moments of the press conference that the topic of injuries was finally brought up, prompting Beamer to provide updates on his players’ health.

Following South Carolina’s 35-13 victory over Kentucky, Shane Beamer offered a short but encouraging injury update. He shared that several banged-up players are expected to benefit from the team’s upcoming bye week and could be ready to return when the Gamecocks take the field again.

Starting offensive linemen Cason Henry and Nolan Hay were sidelined for Saturday’s game due to injuries, creating opportunities for others to fill in on the line. However, Shane Beamer expressed confidence about their recovery timeline.

“We’re optimistic they’ll be ready for LSU in a couple of weeks,” Beamer said. “I’ll have a clearer update for you during the teleconference tomorrow night.”

Cason Henry was spotted wearing a sling on his left arm, while Nolan Hay had a black brace on his knee. Their absences prompted Rodney Newsom to start at center and Tree Babalade to step in at right tackle.

Meanwhile, Markee Anderson faced his own challenges on the offensive line. He had to be helped off the field twice during the game but managed to return after the first incident and continued to contribute despite the setbacks.

In the fourth quarter, Markee Anderson went down again and required assistance from the training staff to leave the field. He appeared unable to put much weight on one of his legs as he made his way to the sideline.

“I haven’t even spoken to Clint (Haggard), our trainer,” Shane Beamer said. “Markee injured his knee on that last drive and had to be helped off. I don’t know his status at this point.”

Apart from concerns over Markee Anderson’s knee injury, Shane Beamer expressed confidence in the overall health of the team.

“I think everybody is okay,” Beamer said. “… The rest of those guys that got knocked out came back.”

South Carolina now heads into its bye week, giving players additional time to recover. The Gamecocks will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, with a road matchup against No. 4 LSU in Baton Rouge.

The official kickoff time has yet to be announced, but it’s expected to fall between 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
