The update improves the chances of Sellers seeing action this week, giving the Gamecocks’ offense a potential boost heading into their upcoming matchup.

Gamecock fans are keeping a close eye on the health of quarterback LaNorris Sellers as South Carolina prepares for its matchup against Missouri. His status has been a key storyline throughout the week, with speculation surrounding whether he would be available to play.

On Thursday, the SEC’s official availability report provided encouraging news. Sellers, who had been listed as questionable just a day earlier, was upgraded to probable, signaling a strong chance that he will be ready to take the field this weekend.wide receiver Mazeo Bennett also saw his status improve, moving from questionable to probable. Additionally, starting safety DQ Smith, a new name on Thursday’s report, was listed as probable as well, giving South Carolina further optimism heading into the Missouri game.

Tight end Michael Smith and cornerback Judge Collier have been officially ruled out for this week’s game. However, optimism around quarterback LaNorris Sellers grew after On3’s Pete Nakos and ESPN’s Chris Low reported Thursday that Sellers practiced and is trending toward playing, barring any setbacks.

Head coach Shane Beamer appeared to reinforce that outlook during his weekly call-in show later in the evening. His comments aligned with the injury updates, suggesting the Gamecocks could have their starting quarterback available when they take on Missouri this Saturday.

“Michael Smith will be out; he won’t play. Judge Collier will be out; he won’t play,” Beamer said. “Optimistic about getting both those guys back next week. And then the other three (Sellers, Bennett, Cason Henry), you’re right, we have a report that will come out later on this evening and I’d say it’s trending in the right direction for those others guys and that we’re optimistic.”

The reports from Nakos and Low, both highly trusted voices in college football, match what GamecockCentral has been hearing all week  growing optimism from both South Carolina and LaNorris Sellers’ camp that the quarterback will suit up this weekend.

“Oh, he’s great,” Beamer said. “He wanted to play last Saturday night. He was right back out on the field and active and involved he didn’t practice necessarily on Sunday but he was back out there with the team and hurt. He’s in great spirits. Again, he’s a competitor and that’s what I told him all week, at the end of the day, any of our players’ health is the most important thing, short-term and long-term. LaNorris has been adamant since Saturday night when he wanted to play that he was playing this weekend, and hopefully that’s the way it will turn out here in the next couple of days.”
