Texas hires ex-Oklahoma State tight ends coach Jason McEndoo.

The Washington State graduate spent a decade on Mike Gundy’s coaching staff in Stillwater.

Former college teammates Jeff Banks and Jason McEndoo have reunited in Austin, as the Texas Longhorns have brought in longtime Oklahoma State tight ends coach Jason McEndoo. His hiring comes after Mike Gundy dismissed him following the Cowboys’ 3-9 season in Stillwater.

McEndoo was a center at Washington State while Banks served as the Cougars’ punter before spending three seasons in the NFL.

Following his professional playing career, McEndoo began coaching in his home state of Washington before transitioning to the college level as Montana State’s offensive line coach from 2003 to 2014. He then joined Mike Gundy’s staff at Oklahoma State, coaching the Cowboy backs—a hybrid tight end/fullback role—until 2023, when the team shifted to more traditional fullback and tight end positions.

While at Oklahoma State, McEndoo coached two future NFL players, Blake Jarwin and Jelani Woods.

With Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis finishing their eligibility and Amari Niblack transferring to Texas A&M, Texas faces an inexperienced tight end group for the 2025 season, making McEndoo a key addition to the staff.
