UConn standout guard Paige Bueckers has officially declared her intention to enter the 2025 WNBA Draft, confirming her decision to ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo on Friday. This announcement comes ahead of UConn’s Sweet Sixteen matchup against Oklahoma in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Bueckers, a three-time first-team All-American and the 2021 National Player of the Year, has had an illustrious collegiate career despite overcoming significant injuries, including a torn ACL that sidelined her for the 2022-23 season.
In the current season, she has demonstrated exceptional performance, averaging 19.2 points per game on 54.2% shooting, along with 4.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds.
The Dallas Wings hold the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft, positioning them to potentially select Bueckers. Despite earlier speculation about her draft intentions and preferred destinations, Bueckers’ confirmation solidifies her commitment to transitioning to professional basketball.
As UConn continues its pursuit of a national championship, Bueckers remains focused on her collegiate goals before embarking on her professional career. The 2025 WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 14 in Brooklyn, New York, following the conclusion of the NCAA tournament.
