The USC Trojans continue to make their presence felt in national recruiting. Holding the No. 1 recruiting class for 2026, they are now targeting a prospect committed to an SEC powerhouse. USC is attempting to flip four-star cornerback Peyton Dyer, a South Carolina pledge, who announced the Trojans’ offer himself.
Despite reaffirming his commitment to the Gamecocks on Tuesday, Dyer’s USC offer is significant in the 2026 cycle. The Trojans have been the most aggressive recruiting team in February, already securing one successful flip.
USC successfully flipped four-star Oregon quarterback commit Jonas Williams, securing his pledge on Friday, Feb. 21. The Trojans then landed four-star edge rusher Simote Katoanga, who chose USC over offers from five College Football Playoff qualifiers—Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, and national title contenders Notre Dame and Ohio State.
This isn’t the first time USC has flipped a recruit from the SEC. Last year, the Trojans secured former Mississippi State cornerback commit Steve Miller, who switched from the Bulldogs to join USC’s 2025 class. Interestingly, Miller and Peyton Dyer both hail from Georgia—Miller from Greensboro and Dyer from Duluth.
USC began recruiting Peyton Dyer in January, with secondary coach Doug Belk making an in-person visit to his high school, Dyer told Chris Trevino of 247Sports.
“I was blessed. I had a conversation with Coach Belk in person after he came up to my school,” Dyer said. “He is a great coach. Looking forward to seeing me down there.”
Dyer has since scheduled a visit to USC for June 6. “Me and Coach Belk’s relationship is starting to get heavy. I feel we have a great relationship,” he added.
If USC can successfully flip Peyton Dyer, the Trojans will add the nation’s No. 25 ranked cornerback to their 2026 class. However, Dyer also has official visits scheduled with South Carolina and Georgia.
Should he commit, Dyer would be the fourth cornerback pledge for USC’s 2026 class. The group is headlined by four-star RJ Sermons of Rancho Cucamonga, who holds a 91 rating from 247Sports. Other four-star commits include Brandon Lockhart from Loyola in Los Angeles and Madden Riordan from Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, who has been committed since November 2023.
