The Golden State Warriors have signed Australian point guard Taran Armstrong to a two-way contract. This agreement allows Armstrong to split his time between the Warriors and their G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. At 23, Armstrong showcased impressive skills during his second season with the NBL’s Cairns Taipans, averaging 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.6 rebounds over 19 games. Notably, he recorded his first NBL triple-double this month with 28 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds in a victory against Brisbane. Armstrong, hailing from Burnie, Tasmania, is the first Tasmanian to secure an NBA deal.
This signing fills the two-way roster spot vacated by Quinten Post, whose contract was recently converted to a standard NBA deal. Armstrong joins fellow two-way players Pat Spencer and Jackson Rowe on the Warriors’ roster. His agent, Daniel Moldovan, expressed confidence in the fit, stating that Golden State offers an ideal environment for Armstrong’s development.
The Warriors are currently ninth in the Western Conference and aim to strengthen their lineup as they push for a higher playoff seed. Armstrong’s addition brings international flair and potential depth to the team’s backcourt.
