
Denver Broncos linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite appeared in Denver County court Monday after being arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer on Sunday, with a Broncos spokesperson confirming that the team is gathering more details about the incident, according to jail records obtained by 9News.
At 38, Wilhoite is entering his second season as the Broncos’ outside linebackers coach after previously serving in a similar role with the Los Angeles Chargers, and he began his coaching career under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints as both a special teams and defensive assistant.
Undrafted in 2011 and starting his career with the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks, Wilhoite went on to play six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers (2011-16) and one with the Seattle Seahawks (2017), recording 298 tackles, 11 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions in 79 games.
