Former Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown is available this offseason after wrapping up a six-year tenure with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The former national championship-winning coach attended the Longhorns’ 22-point comeback win against the Texas A&M Aggies at the Moody Center on Saturday. During the game, Brown was spotted greeting Texas players, including standout athletes Michael Taaffe, Arch Manning, Deandre Moore, and CJ Baxter.
Although Brown has been a favored candidate among fans for a return this offseason, his appearance on Saturday further amplified the calls for his comeback.
A fan posted on the social media platform X, “Still have a lot of love for Mack Brown. They should bring him on as an analyst or consultant.”
Another fan expressed a similar feeling: “It’s great to see Coach Brown back on campus. Hopefully, he’ll have a role with the University soon—let’s get him some fresh gear to wear!”
During Brown’s tenure, Texas achieved nine straight 10-win seasons, secured two Big 12 championships, and claimed the program’s most recent national title.
It remains uncertain whether Brown will take on a supporting role alongside head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff, but the Hall of Fame coach undoubtedly has valuable insights to offer.
Brown ranks sixth in all-time head coaching wins with 282, trailing only Joe Paterno (409), Bobby Bowden (357), Bear Bryant (323), Pop Warner (314), and Nick Saban (297).
