Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been named the 2024 Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year, potentially the first of several honors to follow.
The Pepsi-sponsored award, revealed Thursday, was determined by fan voting. The league’s official honor, the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, is among eight season-ending awards set to be presented Thursday night at the NFL Honors ceremony in New Orleans.
Daniels set NFL rookie records with a 69.0% completion rate and 891 rushing yards as a quarterback. He also led all qualified rookie QBs in passer rating (100.1) and rushing touchdowns (six) while finishing second in passing yards (3,568) and touchdown passes (25).
“I’m grateful for the love and support from my family and friends,” Daniels said in a statement. “I also appreciate my coaches and teammates. … A big thank you to all the fans who voted for me throughout the season—it’s an honor to play for you, and I can’t wait to see everyone in 2025!”
Daniels, 24, was the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Commanders after playing at LSU. He guided Washington to the NFC Championship Game, where they fell to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Daniels was one of six finalists for the award. The other nominees included Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, and Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
