The University of Kentucky continues to strengthen its offensive line through the transfer portal, adding key depth in preparation for the 2025 season.
On Wednesday, On3’s Pete Nakos revealed that Kentucky had secured the commitment of Cameron Jones, an offensive tackle transferring from James Madison University.
Jones, a 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman, is a redshirt sophomore who began his college career with the Dukes, redshirting in 2023 and playing in just one game during the 2024 season—a bowl matchup against Western Kentucky.
After entering the NCAA transfer portal on April 15, Jones evaluated his options and ultimately decided to join the Wildcats, bringing with him three years of eligibility.
Rated as a three-star portal prospect by On3, Jones had been on the radar of multiple programs. Before committing to Kentucky, he took official visits to both Akron and Southern Miss.
The Wildcats hosted Jones for an official visit this past weekend, which appears to have played a significant role in solidifying his decision to commit to the program.
Kentucky’s offensive line coach, Eric Wolford, is working diligently in his second season back with the team to rebuild what was once known as the “Big Blue Wall.”
The need for reinforcements became clear after eight scholarship offensive linemen exited the program via the portal following the 2024 season, prompting Kentucky to bring in six new transfers.
With the addition of Jones and others, Kentucky has now reached the NCAA’s limit of 85 scholarship players for the upcoming season, signaling a completed roster rebuild.
Jones becomes part of a broader effort to revamp Kentucky’s front line, a crucial component for the team’s offensive success heading into the 2025 campaign.
