The Carolina Panthers re-signed veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to a two-year, $8 million contract with $6 million guaranteed and a maximum value of $10 million, ensuring his mentorship of Bryce Young continues.
Set to become an unrestricted free agent, Andy Dalton expressed his desire to stay in Carolina, while Bryce Young, the 2023 No. 1 pick, also voiced his support for Dalton’s return.
Bryce Young emphasized his close relationship with Andy Dalton, crediting him for providing valuable perspective and guidance throughout his rookie season. Dalton, who originally signed a two-year, $11 million deal in 2023 to mentor Young, has been a key resource for football discussions, strategy, and broader insights.
Andy Dalton took over as the Panthers’ starter in Week 3 after Bryce Young struggled early, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns in a win over the Raiders. However, after losing four straight games and suffering a thumb injury in a car accident before Week 8, he never regained the starting job as Young improved and led Carolina to back-to-back wins. Dalton finished the season with 989 passing yards, 7 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions while completing 66.3% of his passes.
A second-round pick by the Bengals in 2011, Andy Dalton has amassed 39,500 passing yards, 253 touchdowns, and 150 interceptions over 14 seasons, earning three Pro Bowl selections.
