Anthony Davis made his return to the court after missing 18 games due to a groin injury sustained during his Dallas Mavericks debut. This debut came shortly after a major trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, causing unrest among Mavericks fans. The Mavericks, defending Western Conference champions, are in a tight competition with Phoenix for the 10th spot in the West, securing a spot in the play-in tournament.
Dallas faces additional challenges with Kyrie Irving out for the season due to a torn ACL. Despite this, Davis continued to work towards his return, participating in road trips and staying engaged with his teammates.
Davis initially struggled with an abdominal injury before the trade, missing games with both the Lakers and the Mavericks. His first game back saw him score 26 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists before suffering the groin injury.
With 11 games remaining, including seven on the road, Davis’ return is crucial for the Mavericks. His comeback may happen during their upcoming four-game road trip, which includes stops in New York, Orlando, and Chicago.
