No matter the result of Sunday’s big game, a former Texas Longhorn will emerge as a Super Bowl champion.
From recent graduates to seasoned professionals, three former Longhorns will take the field in New Orleans. Texas alumni have collectively earned 33 Super Bowl rings, beginning with defensive tackle John Elliott’s victory with the New York Jets in 1969 and most recently with defensive tackle Charles Omenihu’s win with the Kansas City Chiefs last year.
Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs
Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy has exceeded expectations in his first NFL season.
He played a key role in leading Texas to a Big 12 Championship during the team’s final season in the conference, earning All-Big 12 First Team honors. After a record-setting junior year, Worthy chose to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft, where he was selected in the first round by the Chiefs as the 28th overall pick.
Moro Ojomo, Philadelphia Eagles
The lone Longhorn on the opposing side, defensive tackle Moro Ojomo was selected by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Ojomo began his college career at just 16 years old, redshirting his freshman season while making appearances in three late-season games, including the Big 12 Championship against Oklahoma. He earned a starting role in his second year and spent five seasons at Texas before opting to enter the 2023 draft despite having an extra year of eligibility.
Since joining the Eagles, Ojomo has played in 25 games and recorded 23 tackles, according to ESPN. He signed his rookie contract on May 4, 2023, just months after Philadelphia fell to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Now, in his first Super Bowl appearance, Ojomo looks to help the Eagles claim their second championship in franchise history.
